I added a live help program to my website last night. Interesting thing about this is I found it was not only a good customer support but a great traffic monitoring tool!! It shows in real time where your visitors are, how long they have been there, referring url and a page viewing history. Also you can initiate chat with them which is kind of cool. Just thought I would drop this out there for a new topic. The program I am using is www.helpcenterlive.com

Hi Fastnetwork,

I have a Live Help Chat system installed on my web site as well and I get sign ups because of it. I also put a Live Help Chat icon in everyone of my web hosting client's Control Panels and they love it.

The Live Help Chat System I use is called Crafty Syntax Live Help!

Eric, the developer, is always working on and improving the application. I like it very much and it's free.

Here is the URL for the web site:

Crafty Syntax is pretty good and Eric updates it frequently. Its open source and you can also read Eric's remarks on Live Support directory.

Thanks for the info on this program. I have used others, but this is the best and we are going to install on all our sites.

We use to use live help however we found it cost to much to have people to stay by the computer the entire day. We find ticket systems are much better in that we only have to check the computer every 20mins.

We use stardevelop and yes live chat add a a real sense to the atmostphere of the websites. Everyone can read numbers, but if there is someone their to answer you questions... rather than emailing, things just take another shape.

I recommend live chat system for any website. It's worth the money. You not only offer sales, but also offer support with too. Basically, whatever that can be offered on email.. it is done real time and.. making the client feel well secured.

IMO I think it sucks when I am just browsing a site and they pop up "hey want to buy X?"

I would have started the chat if I wanted to talk.

Hi,

As a general rule we don’t message individuals who are browsing our website as we feel it can irritate users and in fact put them off from purchasing hosting packages from our company.

I think most individuals get the feeling of being pushed by a salesman when a box pops up asking them if they are interested in any of the packages. As Raider outlined, if the client was interested in our services or had any questions they would start a live chat session themselves.

We also use and recommend StarDevelop's live chat tool, it is truly amazing and provides a desktop client tool providing you with instant access and notifications of client support requests.

I dont find these live chat programs to be very cheap. They usually cost 60-70 dollars and do not claim that many customers. I prefer the ticket system for support. Its more organized and has a cleaner apperance.
