I'm looking to purchase a webhosting package, but I would like some
help from people who understand more about this than i do.

I have written a piece of software that automatically updates the user's client program by downloading a self-extracting executable file from an FTP server. Does anyone know if most hosting companies would allow this kind of usage?

The executable file is only about 200kb, so I don't think that bandwidth would be much of an issue.

if the script is php based and you setup a ftp account for the script i dont she it being a problem for a qualty web host

i don't see it as a problem, servers should be able to handle that as if it was nothing. just as long as its not illegal
