I'm looking for a web host at the moment. However, I need a little guidance. I'm looking for a solution for a specific need that I have. I will need a web host that will provide me with user accounts in which the user must be able to login to access my resources. Is this something offered by all web hosts? Is this unrealistic? Who might I look up for these capabilities? Anyone's help would be greatly appreciated.

with resources, do you mean files? hosts with control panels will provide you with a ftp manager that allows a certain amount of users.

we use 3 control panels, of which cpanel and direct admin gives you an ftp manager where you can have as many ftp users as you want

we use another called plesk, it only hands out portions of your space to others. like subdomains or sub accounts.

i'ma not exactly sure what your asking, are you talking about like phpnuke those kind of stuff or you want like ftp accounts like said before

are looking at paid or free hosting..

i can do paid...with FTP if this is what you want...and GREAT SUPPORT!!!

Dr. Real, for what you want almost any Hoster can provide. The difference is whether it can be done through the Control Panel provided with the Hosting account or have it done manually.

Cpanel, the Control Panel we offer to Clients, is an example of a Control Panel that allows the account Owner; through the use of a couple of Mouse clicks and dir. / file information, to protect anything within their Hosting account.

To do it manually is a bit tricky and needs to be done by someone who knows what they are doing or have done it before.
