I am currently setting up a website for a small car hire company. As part of that they wish to have a section where they can pictures of special offers of cars available. The pictures are meant as a guide, not the actual car. Does anyone know where I stand with regard to lifting manufacturers photos of cars from their sites and using them on my own site.

This is a commercial site, but not a major player by any means. Is there a car stock royalty free cd I could advise my client to buy. Autoindex.org seems to have everything I need, but there's no mention of copyright of images on it. It only says editorial content is copyrighted? That would seem to imply the images are royalty free?

i think you'd be fine to use them, if your really worried you can e-mail the site you got it from for permission, most will allow for free.
